Aladdin: So here we were, early 1990's, and the disney Renaissance was at its peek. The studios had produced two of the highest grossing animated films of all time and still were pushing on. However the team suffered a tragic loss with the death of lyricist Howard Ashman who surprisingly had had a large amount of creative input on the sebelumnya two films. (He named Ariel) It was even his idea to make the selanjutnya disney animated feature, Aladdin released on November 25, 1992. However, much to the disappointment of many, this would be the last picture to showcase a royal fairytale princess for the...

No Anna atau Elsa, they're too busy being cash cows
No Anna or Elsa, they're too busy being cash cows
Every time I come back from a hiatus I always do this and since it's been confirmed (in an indirect roundabout kinda way) that Moana will be apart of the lineup, it's as good of a time as any.

12. Moana

There's something about her that's just very forgettable, maybe it's because her movie evokes such apathy in me. Everything about her just screams "perfect modern role model" even lebih so than princesses like Belle, Poca, mulan atau Tiana and I find her even lebih "marketable", "manufactored" and obnoxiously flawless than Rapunzel. Even becoming chief feels like some gimmicky "role model" thing,...

 Type Three, "The Achiever"
Type Three, "The Achiever"
Introduction: Understanding the Enneagram

So, the Enneagram is a pretty complicated system of classifying personalities. Basically, everyone has a core type, expressed as a number of One through Nine. This is the most straightforward keterangan of someone’s personality.

Here’s a basic rundown of each type:
1: perfectionistic, rational, idealistic
2: generous, warm-hearted, nurturing
3: ambitious, image-conscious, charming
4: sensitive, dreamy, moody
5: cerebral, perceptive, analytical
6: trustworthy, loyal, brave
7: fun-loving, enthusiastic, lively
8: assertive, strong, self-confident

 12 Season Color Wheel
12 Season Color Wheel
So I never really got to experience much of fashion-culture growing up and have just recently begun to give it any focus atau attention. I have heard of the rule that "Redheads shouldn't wear pink." and I have seen some people discuss this here on FanPop in terms of Ariel and her berwarna merah muda, merah muda dress. I have also read many komentar debating Aurora's famous "Blue vs. berwarna merah muda, merah muda Dress". In those discussions, I heard a talented user on this site, link say things like "She's a Winter." etc. I thought that was so fascinating! I had never heard of this concept before so I decided to look into it. That is how I came...

Second: Here is my personal break-down analysis based on knowledge of Arab/Muslim culture compared to the disney aladdin film.

The majority of Princess Jasmine's numerous flaws stem from the fact that she is completely inaccurate and offensive to her culture. From the clothes she wears to the way she speaks, melati does not represent Arab atau Muslim women at all but rather a disgraceful woman in their culture. Unfortunately, Jasmine...

Hi everyone! I recently learned about the Bechdel Test from a friend and have been wanting to write this artikel ever since. This test is, at its core, an analysis of how women are portrayed in populer culture. It reveals how much women tend to revolve around men in films, books, etc. To pass the test, a film (or any other work of fiction) must meet three requirements: the film must (1) have at least two named female characters (2) who talk to each other (3) about something other than a man. It seems so simple, right? Unfortunately a surprising number of films fail in at least one of these...

Ah yes. Merchandise. Money, in other words. I adore the disney princesses. They are all unique, and have good qualities. Some are even a little complex and the majority are at least decent role models. That's not how disney markets them. Well, unless their name is Anna atau Elsa. For the first 11 princess, they are downgraded into sparkle obsessed girls that look nothing like they did in their original film. Great princesses are forgotten in merchandise as well. The whole system is downright awful. For the Frozen sisters, disney markets them as "I don't need a man". They tried that with Merida...
