Okay, so the lebih I think about this, the lebih it starts to bother me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall any disney Princesses having green eyes. What's up with that?!
Snow White: brown
Cinderella: blue
Aurora: blue
Ariel: blue
Belle: brown
Jasmine: brown
Pocahontas: brown
Mulan: brown
I think Tiana's eyes are brown too.
Even the majority of Disney's other leading ladies don't have jade-coloured peepers. I'm pretty sure Tarzan's Jane has blue eyes, as does Giselle in Enchanted. So do Alice (in Wonderland) and Peter Pan's Wendy! I can't really tell what colour Megara's eyes are in Hercules (blue atau brown, ...or purple?!) but i know they're not green. The Hunchback of Notre Dame's Esmeralda is as close as it gets, but she's not a princess. (Maybe they felt obligated, because her name sounds like "emerald"?)
Again, please correct me if i'm wrong. (Nicely, though!)
As anda can probably tell, I have green eyes. And I just can't believe that out of so many characters, there would be such an imbalance in iris color! I'm feeling left out! *pouts*
I'm just wondering if there's some kind of quirky story about this, like the one about no chewing gum being sold at any disney Parks.
Any thoughts on this?

The exotically beautiful Esmeralda
can't foget you and your Enchanted, LisaForde!
BUT HELL! FOREGT about the Princesses most of the early heroe's didn't even have green eyes when it would make sense. Peter pan, Taurin or Robin Hood? Nope, brown eyes. The good green fairy Fauna? Nope...still brown.
Aside from no green-eye princesses or heroes, have you noticed that ALL the early villains have green eyes? The Evil Queen, the huntsman, Lady Tremaine, Lucifer, Captain Hook, Sherikhan, ALLLL the villains from Pinochio (even the goddamn whale has green eyes!!!). After some reading i found out that green eyes used to be highly associated with evil/the devil/snakes/cats.
I say we retaliate!
i didn't realize that green eyes were highly associated with evil, etc. i'm glad you took the time to research that! (i guess i'm just lazy).
do you think that's the reason they made Esmeralda's eyes green; because of the general views on gypsies and witchcraft? i had never noticed the villains, because i don't like them. LoL but at least we know there wasn't just some genetic disorder in Disneyland that only affected the eyes.
heh. i think green eyes are beautiful. LoL
and you're welcome. ;)
well Disney's future Princess Rapunzel, right after Tiana appears as though she will have green eyes =]
you have a really good point
hope this makes you feel better
but one thing that does bother me is the lack of light-haired females! I hear people say pretty often on fanpop that they think it's great that Disney has created many dark haired-heroines lately because we don't need any more blondes/light haired ones.
If I'm counting correctly, we have one blonde: Aurora, one light strawberry blonde/auburn: Cindy, and if you count Ariel, then her too I suppose (her hair's just a bit too bright for me to consider fair ;)
For dark hair, there's Snow White, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Esmeralda, Jane, Meg, Tiana, etc.
I mean really? That's not really a great ratio at all. And it seems that all of the "smartest" heroines have dark hair too. Being a blonde, I am ever-so-slightly offended by this fact. And absolutely none of the princes are blonde...
I say we need a green eyed/light-haired haired hero/ine! :)
although i consider Snow White rather stupid, and she's got well, really black hair! LoL
I think they need to make more brunette princesses. The only one we have is Belle. I would say more redheads but after Ariel its kind of non repeatable.
In pictures from the illustrated novel (that was Disney's first book best seller, I read!), Belle looks like she has very green, maybe only slightly brown eyes.
I wonder if they thought about giving her green eyes, then decided brown-green, or even just brown, but some green snuck in some scenes.
Green also denotes jealousy, which is why the Evil Queen and Lady Tremaine should have them.
I laughed so much at your "godamn whale has green eyes" comment!
Well, now Rapunzel has green eyes, perfectly fitting her lettuce-inspired name!
but not much PEOPLE have green eyes.
Rapunzel has green eyes due to her being named from a specific lettuce, rapunzel.
Peter Pan, Robin Hood, and Pacha wear green to show that they are "earthy type" people.
Esmeralda has emerald eyes, hence her name Esmeralda. (In the book, it was b/c of the emerald pendant she wore).
1. Esmeralda and Rapunzel have green eyes
2. Green eyes are quite uncommon (although they're quite beautiful in my opinion)
3. Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan and Tiana have brown eyes because it is extremely, extremely rare for someone who's not white to have green (or blue) eyes
Kida has blue eyes because she's Atlantean, which isn't a real race and Esmeralda has green eyes because green eyes symbolized magic in her time period (she had dark brown eyes in the book)
rather than being bothered that there aren't enough characters with green eyes, there's a lack of racial diversity in Disney
instead of another (likely white) princess with green eyes, I'd like to see a non-white princess
when this list was posted the only with green eyes was esmeralda. in races other then white you got:
tiana, mulan, jasmin, esmeralda, and pocahontas.
i was so happy when rapunzel came. since i got blond hair and green eyes. now we need a redhead or brunette with green eyes:) after that they can do what they want :) give us a albino with red eyes if they want. could be fun !
