Chapter Three: Eli makes lunch
~In School~
I looked at my daughter then at Fitz. “What do anda want?” “I want revenge-whether it’s on your daughter atau Eli.” I shook. I didn’t want either. “Please…leave.” I said. Ayla had woken up and was now, playing with my switer lengan panjang, kaus strings. He shook his head, “I don’t think so.” I heard footsteps toward me. I saw a glimpse of Eli. He was looking down and I heard a sobbing sound. Eli was crying. I managed to back away from Fitz. The dinding was still there. But, if I could maneuver myself away from him, I could get away. I moved myself forward, left, then right, and finally got away. I ran over to Eli. “ELI!” I yelled. He looked up. Sure enough, he had tears all over his head. “Eli, we have to get out of here.” I berkata and pulled on his arm. He looked surprised. “Your not mad.” He said. I shook my head and pulled harder on his arm. He looked over my shoulder and saw Fitz coming towards me and Ayla and Eli. Eli understood. He grabbed Ayla and ran out of the school I ran after him. We got into the car. He was breathing heavily with Ayla still in his arms. She was clutching to his shoulder. He looked down at her and kissed her, “I cinta you, baby girl.” He said. He looked up at me. “I’m sorry, Clay.” He said. I put on a little smile and put my arm on him. “Don’t do it again?” “Promise.” I kissed his cheek and pulled Ayla into my lap. “Can we go home?” I asked. He nodded and put Ayla in the backseat.
~At home~
I got out a juicey for Ayla and handed it to Eli. He put it in Ayla’s hand. She sucked up the straw. I sat on the dipan, sofa selanjutnya to Eli. He carefully picked Ayla off him and came over to me. He kissed my cheek and put Ayla on my lap. “Thank you.” I said. He nodded and said, “Your welcome. Thanks for giving me a detik chance.” “Ahem.” I berkata and flipped open the puncak, atas drawer of the cheapest coffee meja in the world (not kidding) and got out the TV remote. I flipped on the little flat screen (nicer than the coffee table).
“And the giant center is having ke$ha tonight!! 3 tickets left. Call: 445-9864-124 now!” CNN newsroom. Lame.
“Miss. China has won this year’s pageant! Miss. China: 2004! Congratulations!” Old Pageant. Miss. World. Yawn.
“You make me feel like I’m living a Teenage Dream the way anda turn me on!” musik Videos. FINE!
I finally settled on the crap that was playing. I turned it down to 5 and looked at my watch. It was 12:02. Time for lunch. “Eli,” I said. He grabbed my hand and looked at the time. “Lunch?” he asked. I nodded and looked at Ayla. “Ayla, are anda hungry?” Ayla looked up at me with her big eyes. She nodded and said, “Yauh, mam.” I smiled. She was so cute whenever she didn’t say the right words. She knew three words, well: ‘chicken’, ‘momma’, and ‘daddy’. Other than that, Daddy and I were looking for nods and thumbs ups. Eli went out to the dapur and made lunch. About, 30 menit later he came out with chicken fingers and two chicken ceaser salads. I put Ayla’s food onto the crappy coffee meja and out her in the little purple plastic chair. It was for her to sit on. I put her on the chair and told her the food was on the counter. She said, “Fank Few.” And dug into the chicken with the small pile of ketchup. I smiled and picked up the fork and put some selada on it. I looked at it not very thrilled. Healthy…. Eli looked at me. He was eating the same thing. “What’s wrong baby?” he asked. “Nothing…just…” he was still looking. “It’s just…healthy.” He looked like he was going to die laughing. “It’s too healthy?” he asked. I nodded, “Yes.” “Ok…gimme the plate.”
