And just because you liked Boonie and Damon in the books it's just doesn't mean anything. It's like the Nate and Blair romance: everyone love them in the book, but in the TV show they just don't have such a good chemistry like Chuck and Blair.
So, deal with it.
We've jus seen more 'moments' or situations between Delena build up gradually so you see the chemistery, the implications etc. I think Donnie almost matches that in one scene (as he has managed to show his tender side with Elena in the scenes excl. the bedroom scene!)
And for those who say that Delena would be hot, what is hotter than a badass vampire and a fiesty, strong-willed witch?
BTW, have you read the Damon-Elena teaser from the new book(Shadow Souls)? Because if you don't you really should! It is another good example what's between Donnie and what's between Delena because there's a big difference! Damon and Elena are passionate and exciting and they have a great chemistry, which can't be compared to neither Stelena nor Donnie. This thing between them is beyond and make you cry like a baby. Beautiful<3

Elena is after all his humanity. :) and I hate how BD Shippers are judging who Damon should be with based on a 10 second scene. I knew once the show started to keep the coupling different. that their could be a chance that I would change my mind, but it didn't happen. Ian and Nina's chemistry is beautiful and makes me wanna too see more of them. :)
I'm not judging who should who Damon would be in from a 10 second scene, (actually it was 40 seconds, but whose counting, right? ;D ). I think, I speak for myself, I don't know about the other Donnie fans, but I loved them from the books and I think in those few seconds they did the ship justice. If they hadn't...I would be the first to acknowledge it. Yeah E/D have had more time together - thus you can talk about the 'moments.'
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not screaming 'Damon HAS to end up with Bonnie' (tho I feel they should, anything could happen!) I rather put myself in the hopeful/safe camp that their little scene will be the beginning of many more interactions and scenes that will lead to some kind of relationship. After all, Damon knowing that a kick-ass witch has got his number down if he tries to mess with anymore of her friends, might be just what he needs ;D

and I'm glad your not screaming Bonnie/Damon are endgame, because I know a lot of Shippers who already are, because their not seperating the ships from the books.
to me the Book Bonnie and the TV Bonnie are different, and that in itself changes things.
Because i read the books and now a watch the show too and i feel so bad for Damon because he has suffered a great deal in both. I hate that Damon seems to always finish 2nd. Seems like their father preferred Stefan and Katherine said she loved Stefan best. I would like to see Damon win the girl and I don’t mean Bonnie. I’ve paid a great deal of attention to the books and Bonnie never seems to be ahead of Elena in his thoughts NEVER. He is all confused about what to do with Bonnie in Nightfall until Elena says “Help her, Please!” then he’s on it. Then while Bonnie is still in the tub dying he’s in a day dream about Elena not wearing under clothes, When they are in the car while Bonnie is lying half dead he is commenting on Elena being gorgeous as always, then when Stefan throws him out of his room when he is in the woods he says ” I could care less what any of the humans thought, but Elena was there and it made it too humiliating.” That is just some of the examples, he doesn’t even bother to save Bonnie from the altar until Elena yells to him to look at Bonnie. During the fight he’s giving Elena meaningful gazes and her him. Hell, even in the beginning of the book he is outside Carolines room getting an eye full not Bonnies room. I just don’t think there has been enough evidence to suggest a Bonnie and Damon relationship. It would not be believeable to me. I think Matt just looks at Bonnie as one of the only humans who has accepted him for what he is. And I think it made him feel good about himself to save her life.
That's the same in the series. Damon has shown some pieces of his humanity and everytime he did that it had sg to do with Elena (for example: when he stroked her face while she was sleeping and looked at her so hurtfully or when he appeared to do her a favour by deleting Jeremy's memories or when they had a heart to heart scene in the kitchen...etc.). I think Damon is just so lonely and hurt and he needs Elena more than Stefan.
BTW, i agree with that Damon and Elena have a great chemistry, which is another reason to ship them. :)
Katerina has actually been quoted to having said "After doing a lot of backstory for the script and delving deeper into every single relationship that Bonnie has, I'd say that I wouldn’t completely cut off Damon.At first I was like 'Oh, no way, that'll never happen.' So there you go. Katerina isn't saying that Donnie will NEVER happen, she actually thinks something will develop - love? So there is a possible love story in store for her. In fact he seems to me that Kat is leaning towards a big 'when' not 'if'.
I've read the interview you are referring to - Kat was indicating the immediate episodes that aired. She was asked about the fan reaction to her character - she said they supportive cz of no love intrest & as so far they would stay that way cz Bonnie had to deal with her own identity first rather than a guy. But here you can see that Kat does expect Bonnie to get a guy at some point. Tho, I it'll probz be down the line with the whole love triangle story
Damon does a lot of evil things to Elena, but she learns to love him as a brother. Stefan is her true love. And Stefan couldn't live without her.
Damon just wants Elena because his brother owns her and she looks like Katherine. The rest is merely physical atraction.
Bonnie is the girl who breaks this whole Katherine obsession.
They're still developing the characters in the show. I refuse to argue the story based on it.
And what exactly do you see in Donnie? You said he kissed a long time before he kissed Elena. Do you know how many girls Damon has kissed? If they were all supposed to mean something Damon would have to be together with half the planet. Besides all there is in Donnie is one or two kisses and him saving her. I've watched in many movies with boys doing that with girls and it didn't mean anything. So I don't see why Donnie should be any different. Damon likes strong, independent women, not ones he must always save like Bonnie. And someone also said that a strong willed witch and badass vampire would be a great ship. I completely agree with that. But Bonnie is not strong willed and is not powerful. If you want a witch like that try Phoebe Halliwell from Charmed. And in my opinion Phoebe/Damon would be a much better couple than Bonnie/Damon. Phoebe is a strong witch unlike Bonnie.
But D&B are nice together!
Speaking of the show, I'll tell you my case. I haven't read the books since like a few days ago, and I just read the frist one, and I shipped DB on the show anyway. So I guess the whole 'uh people like them because of the books' thing is not my thing.
Why did I shipped them? Because they were different from everything else, they're not the normal cliché thing, I'm tired of love triangles, they're exiting at first, maybe, but you can completely see what's going on always, and this case is not the exception. I know, why are you watching this show if it's about something you don't like? Meh, blame Ian Somerhalder and Lost for making me know him hahaha and blame my vampire love since I watched Buffy when I was like 7 years old. Anyway...
Since the beggining I could see that no matter what happens, Elena will always end up with Stefan. They have a powerful conecction, they love each other, they've been trough so much even in a few episodes, and they still fight for each other. That's real love. No matter who cames in the middle, no matter if it's exiting, or whatever, you know they're going to end up together, because Stefan is the one that makes her feel like she's the only woman in the entire world.
So, based on that. And based on Damon being my favourite character, I'd never wanted him to en up alone. Katherine would be cool, I guess, because he loves her so much, that I want to see my baby happy, but she still a bitch, and I don't like her, so no.
Elena is not good enough for him, and it's perfectly clear that he's actracted to her just because she looks like Katherine, and everything that I said about Stefan, so that's a no too.
Caroline is a big hell no, he was just using her, she's not good enough either.

And don't get me wrong, I didn't went to that explanation when I started shipping them.
When I found out about the show, I started searching around about the books, to know who was with who, what the fans liked, blah blah. I'm such a spoiler whore.
Anyway, I knew about the triangle, but then I found out about BD, and started looking around for her description, how her history was, her personality, how he acted with her and blah. And it just clicked me, I thought it could be way more too interesting than "the boy falls in love with the girl just because she looks exactly like his ex and he still obsessed with her".
I liked the whole vampire/witch thing, it just has so much potential. And Damon and Bonnie are so different that they complete each other, she can understand him, bring the light to his dark side, show him how it's like to be the one and only of someone. And he can protect her, and show her that she doesn't have to be afraid of her powers or anything, because he'll always be there to help her. He can show her how to embrace her dark witchy side.
All that made me ship them, made me like the idea of them together, all that potential. And then I saw them on the screen together and I shipped them completely.
And yes, I know there's only a few scenes of them, but trust me, I know a lot of ships that people didn't give a damn at first because their scenes were short and/or didn't conviced everyone like, as a couple, and now everyone loves them.
I do see the chemistry, but you know, it's pretty subjective, not everyone can see the same in everything that's around us. And I also feel that the whole TVD cast has wonderful chemistry, everyone with everyone, besides the whole 'couple' thing.
Anyways, in my eyes, they have lots of chemistry, they have massive amounts of potential, and they're really hot together. And since Stefan/Elena are made for each other, and Damon is my favourite character, I want him to have a happy ending too, and that's with Bonnie.
Sorry if anyone gets upset or something with my comment.
Also, I have to say that I don't get why people compare them to NB, because as a die hard CB I don't see it at all. But anyway, points of view are kinda subjective so... someone can see it, some others can't, it tends to happen.

The fact that they've already garnered themselves a pretty considerable fan base, while only having had very few scenes together, speaks volumes about how they come across overall. I think there's a terrific dynamic there that absolutely deserves to be explored. The tension, angst, complexity, supernatural storyline potential and the other purely superficial fact that they look astonishingly beautiful together are yet more reasons why I voted for Bamon and not Delena. Just my thoughts.

As I said, I shipped DB without even reading the books, I voted for them because they have potential, I'm not saying he's in love with her, or whatever, we didn't had enough scenes yet, but who cares? That doesn't change the fact that in the little scenes that we had I... and I'll make it clear, don't care what you've seen or not, I've seen chemistry making my screen explode, and that plus their backstories, personalities, and powers, makes me see a HUGE potential in them.
In my opinion, the only thing I've seen Damon caring about on the show was for Katherine. And maybe Stefan, he tries to hide it, but whatever. And all what I see is him messing up with Elena just to bother Stefan, and just because it looks like Katherine. Seriously, the day that I see him caring about Elena, even when it's not my ship, I'll accept it, and say it, because I can like one ship but I'm not blind, but I haven't seen that until now, so...
Other thing that I forgot to say also is that you don't have to leave a rude, mean, agressive comment. Express your opinion, sure, of course, but respect people! I don't like Elena that much, and I don't go writing bullshit about her because of that, come on, grow up a little and learn no respect, please? Thank you.
I love Damon, I said it before, he's my fav character. But Elena is just not good enough for him in MY (and repeat MY) eyes.
She can be with Stefan, be happy, marry, blah blah, I don't care about that.
I think most of the Damon and Bonnie fans are delusional and try to explain miserably how much chemistry they have and why they belong together. But in the REAL world Bonnie and Damon are 2 absolutely different people and even a princess and a frog have more chemistry than them!

IMO, what 'a lot of people' see depends on the site, depends on a lot of things. And still can be wrong. I mean, it's not like what 'a lot of people' thinks makes it a completely and undeniable truth. It's just what people see, or don't. And even if it ends up like that, it's alright, good for them, i'm not going to stop liking or supporting my ship because of that, you know?
We're not calling you anything bad or speaking rude to you because you ship other ship. Because, after all, we're all people. Maybe we love different ships yeah, but we can still get along besides that fact, it's not like we're insulting your mother by shipping DB XD I don't find a reason to act THAT childish. I don't think that Stefan and Elena are meant for each other. There is no deep connection. He loves her and she struggles to love him back. If Elena loves Stefan sooo much then why does she remind herself of him every time Damon wakens something inside of her? Why can't she let Damon go? Why does she admit that she loves him? LJ even said that the following books will be about Elena falling in love with Damon to the same extend that she's in love with Stefan. So... yeah. Stefan holds Elena back. Damon unleashes the wild girl inside of her, the one full of lust but love and care as well. Damon is darkness. Elena is burning light with a dark side. There is no better combination than that. Whenever I read about Delena I feel the passion and the fire between them but with Stelena I only feel sibling love and care.
And the reason why I think that Stelena are not meant for each other is because there is nothing in store for them. No passion, no chemistry, nothing. Just so-called love. It may be 'realistic' but a book has to be interesting and a couple like that just bores the hell out of readers. While with Damon and Elena... you never know what's in store for them. Elena began by hating him, to caring for him and in the end loving him. And in the next book we'll see her completely falling for Damon.
Some people may say that they just don’t see LJ Smith (the author of the VD books) going anywhere with Damon/Elena and that they’re definitely not going to be endgame, but I must say in the nicest way possible that these people may have read other books than I have ☺.
After reading the 5 books that are out, I can honestly say, without being biased on my Damon/Elena love that the only pairing that got a real build-up in the book-series was Damon and Elena. It is slow, almost painfully slow, but it is there and it is visible for anyone who did not decide to close their eyes to anything Damon/Elena related.
Elena goes from absolutely hating and loathing Damon in the first 2 books to stop hating him and acknowledging that she actually cares for him and maybe also loves him, but that she is absolutely not in love with him. And even after softening up about Damon, Elena never really gives in to him and the love he offers her – in his own way – and the love that she could give him. Every time Elena even thinks one positive thought about Damon she suddenly thinks about Stefan again and says to herself that she belongs to Stefan and only Stefan and that is forever and ever.
Whoever says that Damon only wants Elena because she looks like Katherine read this Damon quote:
"“My brother," he went on, "is a fool. He thinks that because you look like Katherine you're weak and easily led like her. But he's wrong. I could feel your anger from the other side of town. I can feel it now, a white light like the desert sun. You have strength, Elena, even as you are. But you could be so much stronger. I'm talking about Power, Elena." Suddenly, he stepped close to her, his eyes fixed on hers, his voice soft and urgent. "You've tried everything else, and nothing has satisfied you. Another quote that shows how in love Elena is with Damon is this: "And Damon. I know now that there’s living flesh under the layers and layers of stone

makes me shiver—a part of myself even I don’t understand" How can the not belong together after this?!?!

white-blond, a black gown against her satiny skin. Now there was a picture to make any vampire’s heart beat faster.
He wanted her more than ever now that she had been a spirit. Even as a vampire she would retain most of her own nature, and he could just picture it: her light for his darkness, her soft whiteness in his hard,black-jacketed arms. He would stop that exquisite mouth with kisses, smother her with them— What was hethinking about? Vampires didn’t kiss like that for enjoyment—especially not other vampires. Only sentimental idiots like his brother bothered with such
foolishness. Still, Damon found himself excited by the idea of kissing Elena, of forcing kisses on her, of feeling her
desperation to get away from him suddenly pause—with the little hesitation that came just before response, before yielding herself completely to him.
And wnother one: He wanted her to believe him, to trust him. He didn’t want Elena as a one-night bleeder. He
wanted her to choose him. He wanted her to see how much better suited she was to him than to his mousy, milksop brother.
His princess of darkness. That was what she was meant to be. With him as king, consort, whatever she wished. When she saw things more clearly, she would understand that it didn’t matter. That nothing mattered except them being together.
Even after Damon proving that he can be trusted and that he wants her and nothing else in the world, Elena keeps rejecting him again and again because she is convinced that she is destined to be with Stefan.
All that could have made any other man back down and leave the woman alone. But Damon is not anyone. He keeps trying and trying to convince her about how great they could be together. He is not trying to brainwash her in to it or anything, but he just wants her to SEE what he sees inside her of power and to see the possibilities for them.
Some people (S/E fans) say that Damon is not respecting Elena’s wishes when she chose Stefan already and that Damon does not see that her happiness is more important than anything else while Stefan would have left her in a heartbeat if she chose Damon.
Well, it might be a nice and thoughtful thing to do for your love, to let them go if they want something else. But give up with out putting up your best fight proves that your love is not strong enough, or just that you love being the victim, the martyr in this love-equation. And to be honest, it seems JUST like Stefan to do something like this; to do the honourable thing and leave Elena to Damon if she says she wants him.
But this is not how Damon rolls. He wants Elena SO much and he believes in them SO strongly that he is not willing to give up without putting up his best effort. I am sure that Damon would respect Elena’s wishes and would want her to be happy if she chooses Stefan in the end, but after having tried everything in his might and his power trying; fighting for her.
Now some other Stefan/Elena fans say that Damon have never and will never love Elena in the books. That is absolutely ridiculous. After all these 5 books, and all the danger that Damon has put himself through and all the time and effort he made to just make Elena give him a little chance, Damon doesnt love Elena? And we’re talking about the most handsome and supposedly most selfish evil bastard that is. Would he do all what he has done for Elena without him loving her? That is impossible. No vampire would sacrifice himself for a woman he doesnt love, because a vampire is selfish his nature. And when that selfishness is pushed back for something else, that something else is the strongest force in the universe.
When you love someone you dont necessarily have to shower them with words like "I love you" etc. Actions speak louder than words, and Damon's actions scream that he loves Elena with every fiber in his being.
Another book-quote:
“How are you feeling?”—just, as it happened, as she lifted her
hand to her throat.
She grimaced. “Not bad.”
And that made them look at each other. And then Elena smiled and he had to smile back, at first just a quirk of the lip, and then a full smile.
She was…damn it, she was everything . Witty, enchanting, brave, smart…and beautiful. And he knew that his eyes were saying all that and that she wasn’t turning away.
“We might—take a little walk,” he said, and bells rang and trumpets played fanfares, and confetti came raning down and there was a release of doves….
In other words, she said, “All right.”
And another one :
“But Elena,” Damon’s voice had life now; it was both excited and inflexible: “Can’t you see? Past history aside, you have to admit that we’re the ones that belong together. You and I are simply better suited to each other by nature. Deep down you know that, because we understand each other. We’re on the same intellectual level—”
“So is Stefan!”
“Well, all I can say is that he does a remarkable job of hiding it, then. But can’t you feel it? Don’t you feel”—his grip was becoming uncomfortable now—“that you could be my princess of darkness—that something deep inside you wants to? I can see it, if you can’t.”
“I can’t beanything to you, Damon. Except a decent sister-in-law.”
He shook his head, laughing harshly. “No, you’re only suited for the main role. Well, all I can say is that
if we live through the fight with the twins, you’ll see things in yourself that you’ve never seen before. And
you’llknow that we’re more suited together.”
And the last one :
“I want you . Exclusively.”
Elena braced herself, trying to keep a clear head despite the fog that seemed to be invading it.
“You know that that’s not possible.”
“I know that it was possible for Stefan. When you were with him, you didn’t think about anything but
him. You couldn’t see, couldn’t hear, couldn’t feel anything but him.”
Elena’s gooseflesh now covered her whole body. Speaking carefully around the obstruction in her
throat, she said, “Damon, did you do something to Stefan?”
“Now, why would I want to do something like that?”
Very low, Elena said, “You and I both know why.”
“Do you mean,” Damon started out speaking casually, but his voice grew more intense as he gripped her
shoulders, “so that you would see nothing but me , hear nothing but me , think of nothing but me ?”
Now on with Damon and Bonnie. What do they have in front of everything I just wrote? Nothing. I honestly don't think they have a future. Donnie fans say that this is the best couple, badass vampire and kickass witch. I wouls agree... except that Bonnie isn't a kickass witch. She is extremely weak and all Damon will do if they get together is save her. She is not nearly as strong as Elena. Damon needs a strong character to push him and even stand up against him when he's wrong; not agree to everything he says, and believe he's gorgeous like Bonnie does. Okay I believe he's gorgeous too but... Donnie fans also say that Bonnie brings out Damon's sweetest side while Elena brings out his worst (when he threatened Margaret) I think that half of Damon's fierce personallity is lost while being with Bonnie. She holds him back with her weakness just like Stefan with Elena. And whoever said that Elena brings out the worst in Damon... I have to say they have read the wrong books. As I said before and as you said too Damon doesn't care about humans. He thinks of them as food and gets what he wants. So why would he hesitate to hurt Margaret to get the person he cares most about in the world(quote from Nightfall), Elena? It's only natural. It's Damon's personallity and I love him for that. I love the character Elena brings out of him, sometimes cold and hard, others sweet and soft and regretful.

That's why I get pissed off if someone ends up bashing the characters or the fans. I mean, you can make a whole wonderful explanation of why do you like your ship, like you did, withouth end up being rude.

If they happen in the show, I'm sure it will be amazing because Ian and Nina also ship Damon&Elena and they are very close friends...maybe more than just friends.
the reason I watch the show
Now I'm not in any way bashing Damon/Bonnie peeps I just want to clarify that, because while I don't personally see them together, I know what it is like to have my ship bashed repeatedly and well I just hate that feeling. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And if you want to ship Damon and freaking Katherine go right ahead, why ship Damon and Alaric for all I care, I'm not going to say anything to you, because you have a right to your opinion. So now that that's out of the way, Delena for me all the way, forever. I can't help but completely love Damon and having read the books, really I adore Stefan, but Damon deserves Elena. He needs her more. They are the ones that are soul mates in my book. Too bad there aren't two Elena's so each could have one without having to share ;)

Maybe Bamon have something that you find 'cute' in the books but I haven't seen that thing in the TV show and they just don't fit together!

Damon and Bonnie may have not of had alot of screen time together yet.
& yes as of right now damon is going for elena, but honestly I think that there is definitely ALOT of chemistry between Bonnie and Damon and I also believe that Bonnie would be the perfect girl for Damon because She might be the only female with the power to put damon in his place and keep him there. Which in my opinion is what will keep any future relationship together. As apposed to any relationship between Elena and Damon where she can't do anything to control him and or stop him from doing whatever the hell he wants.
for me the show is a different story and I'm just gonna wait and see. damon/elena don't have my heart, but I'm also gonna be realistic, I don't see bonnie and damon getting together soon :P
but I do like their scenes. and at the moment I like all characters as they are :)
but I would love to see just a little more respect between bamon/delena fans. it's not the end of the world!:P
because every single time share a scene the chemistry is sizzling, because he always shows a certain degree of respect for her, even when she doesn't go along with his plans/whims, because she holds him responsible for his actions.
Because they are equals, opposites and yet have so much in common.
Bercause their banter is always terrific.
Because his eyes follow her always when she leaves the room.
Because his body language when they share a moment never fails proving he lusts for her.
Because their heated eyesex is legendary.
Because whenever they finally have sex, it's going to be fireworks.
