Delena Season 6 Spoiler Roundup: Everything We Know So Far 

The Vampire Diaries, we can count down the days until the next chapter of the epic love story between Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) begins. But what will their relationship look like when one-half of the couple is presumed dead and possibly off in some netherworld? Here’s everything we know about Delena’s journey in Season 6 so far...

Though the TVD Powers That Be haven’t gotten specific about just how much time will have passed since we last saw our heroes, we know it will be “substantial” and more than a few months. How will this affect the Delena relationship? Well, it means Elena will be starting over, and having “come to terms” in some way with what everyone assumes was Bonnie and Damon’s deaths — even if that term is denial.

We know that Damon will be back for Season 6. We know that he and Bonnie didn’t die — at least, permanently — in the Season 5 finale. But where does that leave our hero? Well, Julie Plec toldEntertainment Weekly: “I think the ending of the episode is meant to be left up deliberately for speculation of what exactly did happen to [Damon and Bonnie]. I can say for certain the Other Side is gone for good, and I can say for certain that when the Other Side disappeared for good that they had already been dealt with — whether it’s through finding peace or other means. Outside of that [laughs], I think I’ll let the speculation blow around for a little while longer.”

Season 6 will be Delena’s journey back to one another

According to the leaked promotional poster: “Season six will be the story of their battle between good and evil within themselves, and their journey back to each other to reclaim their home.” To us, this sounds like Delena’s separation will be the major plot of the first story arc of Season 6 — and that it will end with their eventual reunion. What do you think?

Though Elena (and Stefan) might not be doing well emotionally following Damon’s death, it sounds like they may at least be there for one another. According to Nina Dobrev, "If you look back to Season 1, it\'s been very hectic for her and it\'s nice [for her and Stefan] to be in a settled place." How does this affect the Delena relationship? Well, it sounds like TVD may have finally stopped pushing the love triangle — at least, for now.

Who better to help Elena get through the loss of Damon than his BFF? Alaric is back as a series regular for Season 6 and, according to Julie Plec, “He\'s going to be there for her as a friend and as emotional support ... The Elena and Alaric friendship is something we\'re really looking forward to next year.”
