Damian Lewis stars as Detective Charlie Crews
Take one male lead: Charlie Crews, played to perfection oleh British actor Damian Lewis, who performed so well as the American war hero Major Dick Winters in HBO's Band of Brothers that his cast mates didn't realise he was English! Pre-1994, Crews was a young cop (probably in his early 20's, though it isn't specified in the series) who was happily married to a beautiful girl. However, one night, his friend Tom Seybolt was brutally murdered along with his wife and young son. Their daughter survived and was sent to a new home. All evidence proved Crews to be the killer and thus followed a sentence of life imprisonment.
While in prison, Crews was treated awfully - obviously due to him being a cop - and spent most of his time membaca buku on Zen. In 2007, his case was reviewed again oleh a new lawyer. It was shown that none of the physical evidence matched Crews - he had been wrongfully imprisoned. He was exonerated, received a settlement of approximately $50million and chose to go back to his old job as a cop. He returns to the force,with a new Zen outlook on life - providing amusing kutipan such as "You don't have to understand here to be here" and "There is no future, atau past. There's just now... and now... and of course now..." - and also a newly acquired cinta for fruit.
Now, take one female lead: Dani Reese, played oleh the beautiful and talented Sarah Shahi. She is a young detective who has a dark past. Not only was she a recovering alcoholic, but on a sebelumnya case, she had worked undercover on a drug bust - all was going well until she began to take her work halaman awal with her. Reese was sent to rehab and returned to the force at a similar time to Crews. Their boss paired them up as partners and so begins the forming of a friendship between the two cops.
Now, on puncak, atas of these two amazing actors, add a few lebih supporting stars. Adam Arkin stars as Ted, a business man who Crews met in prison. He was released around a similar time and, due to the cop helping him through his sentence, he was there to support Crews upon his release. He is Crews' roommate and financial adviser, providing much comedy.
Brent Sexton plays Officer 'Bobby' Stark, Crews' former partner. The pair had worked together before Crews' imprisonment and it is clear that Bobby had diberikan up on his friend, as many others did. However, after the exoneration, Bobby works quite closely with Crews and Reese.
Donal Logue was brought to the cast in season 2 as the new Captin, Kevin Tidwell. Tidwell takes an immediate liking to Reese and after a while, the pair being an intimate relationship.
Finally, in the last few episodes on the series, the character of Amanda Puryer is introduced. A security specialist for a former cop, she causes a few troubles for Crews, before finally helping him in the end. Played oleh the talented Helen McCrory, it is interesting seeing her act opposite her real life husband, Damian Lewis.
Overall, with an intriguing storyline and a splendid cast, it is no wonder why 'Life was such a great show. It is just a shame that it fell to a fate that it did not deserve. Having had the chance, it could have gone on for at least a few lebih seasons. But as they say, all good things come to an end - this good thing just ended too soon.
