Rum flavoured oleh a dead man in the cask; black widow spiders nesting in beehive hairdos; women’s intestines broiled oleh tanning booths; teenage couples menaced oleh men with hooks for hands: if these are the sorts of tales that thrill and chill you, this an anthology worth picking up. Folklorist Brunvand (The Vanishing Hitchhiker) assembles a creepy cornucopia of urban legends, organizing them oleh theme ("Chills Up Your Spine," "Accidents") and considering them in a surprisingly sedate manner. The result is a blend of "primary text" urban...

A Guide to Answering the Unanswerable, Making Sense of the Nonsensical, and Solving the Unsolvable

How big is your vocabulary?
How heavy is your house?
Do the dead outnumber the living?
What are the best words to use
in a personal ad?

We humans are a curious species, prone to think, ruminate, reflect, cogitate, mull over, and philosophize. We long to explain away the world aruond us, to answer all those seeming unanswerables. Why are we here? Is there a God? Is there life after death? And, above all, how many houseflies does it take to pull a car?

A confirmed and...

How and why I wrote Theta Head oleh Greg Dawe

Twenty years yang lalu I was a young man wielding a freshly dispensed adult perpustakaan card, roaming the aisles of my local public library. I found myself trying to find myself there – searching for something that might explain what this life thing was all about. Time and again I found myself gravitating to the ‘alternative’ section – the runes and pagans, the spiritual and metaphysical. I was on the lookout for something different, mysterious – Tibetan monks with extraordinary powers, out of body experiences. And just there, tucked between UFO Abductions...

Uninvited Guests...

“What is it?” Asked Patty Dransiena, “how did it get in here?”
John Dransiena couldn’t speak, he could only stare at the trembling creature that looked so innocent, yet so scary.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As John stepped out of his steaming car, he reflected on his day. He had been yelled at oleh his, then on his way home, some idiot had tried to cut in front of him and had nearly knocked him off the cliffs that lined the boundaries...

Clarabele was alone, alone in the dark, damp, abandoned cellar with carefully strung cobwebs made of sliver moonlight as company, and she adored it. The cellar was her freedom, her release from the cold, strong grasp of an oppressive society. She loved it here, where the only noises in the abandoned rum cellar were her and the feet of the mice. However Clarabele had to leave her sanctuary for a demonic reason.

Spirits were high on this All Hallows eve, the town was replenished from The Great api and the ‘occurrences’ had lessened, utter peace. As Clarabele walked along the dark,...

The blush after your first kiss. The adrenaline of a roller coaster ride. Moving to a new town. None of these can compare to the emotions one feels after finishing a book so completely excellent that anda want to buy it for everyone anda know. I cinta that feeling. And somehow I have become blessed this past bulan for I have read not one but TWO of these wonderful books. Of course I have to share them now with anda all and desperately hope that anda will pick them up at the local library.

buku have definitely taken on a new meaning in the past few years. Before, buku were a way to past time, something to take your mind off your busy and chaotic life. Now, we can see those classic stories come to life on the big screen. There are many film which were based on books, most of them very good. But I think a lot of us rabid readers can agree that sometimes, it’s just better to leave the story in the pages of a book. First of all, it’s very hard to create a film that’s just as good as the book. buku have so much fun detail and information on what the characters are thinking....

This review was last edited on 6 November 2008. A caveat: keep in mind that this was written oleh an adult man membaca a young adult novel: my opinions will differ from many fan of the book just as my time in life and experience also differ.

In my mind, a review consists of three parts: a recommendation, a review of the plot, and a critique of the craft that went into the product. These each follow. If anda have not read the book already and think anda might, avoid the review and critique both, as they discuss the book in detail.

Recommendation: Definitely read Twilight if anda are a preteen girl,...

 Another great book,
Another great book,
For all bookworms thirteen and over, well for bookworms who don't need each character explained to them each time there mentioned throughout the novel, I have a great book anda may like to try out if anda haven't already. 'The Way of Shadows' oleh Brent Weeks, the first book in the Night malaikat Trilogy. It's an action packed story filled with assassins, romance, friendship and life when it's hard. It's a fantasi book that challenges your imagination and keeps anda guessing. I have heard multiple phrases for it and cinta it myself. Another book of mine that I didn't want to put down.

A note to book-cover publishers: before anda decide on a cover, go into a bookstore and head to the respective section. See the trend of tints and shades that color that genre. then pick a different color! It is astonishing that, even in this hari and age, history buku about China and Russia are still primarily red, buku about Ireland are green, and "women's books"(i.e. Chick Lit and Self Help) are pastel pink, blue atau yellow. Honestly, even murder mystery books, when targeted towards female readers, take on berwarna merah muda, merah muda as opposed to the red and/or black of other mysteries.

The psychology of book...

We all cinta books. That's a given. But what about bookstores? What are your thoughts on them?

I'm just going to presume that anda cinta bookstores, and even more, independent bookstores. But in this hari and age when it is too easy to cari for and buy buku online *cough* amazon *cough*, I want to remind all of the wonderfulness of independent bookstores. But I also want to remind anda that they are suffering. These historical and community treasures need your help!

And so I want to direct your attention to an upcoming PBS documentary called Paperback Dreams. Paperback Dreams is the story...
