This was a book laporan that I wrote for my English class. If you're thinking of membaca the Hunger Games, I suggest that anda look at this...

The Hunger Games is a very populer book among teens my age. It’s basically about a sixteen-year-old girl named Katniss whose sister (named Prim) was chosen to compete in the Hunger Games, which was an annual tournament where two children from each District (there are 12-ish) are forced to fight to the death on live television. Katniss apparently really loved her sister atau something, because she volunteers to go in Prim’s stead.
I first picked up this book because everyone else was membaca it. The plot had caught my interest, and I saw it EVERYWHERE in school, so I decided to read it. The first thing that I thought when I finished the book was, “Why on Earth was this thing popular?” I mean, the plot was definitely good, but the menulis was only so-so. However, I actually did kind of like this book. I can count on one hand all of the buku that have managed to make me cry, and this is one of them.
I did have a minor problem with the character development though. The point of Katniss going into the Hunger Games in the first place was to save her sister Prim. The only problem is that Prim has, like, three lines before the main character is sacrificing her life for her. Yeah, that’s great and all, but I like to actually get to know the character before I start feeling all mushy about her life being in danger.
What also bugged me was the penulis makes a big point of the fact that Katniss has no special talents besides archery. When it comes to public speeches, acting, intelligence, etc. Katniss just stands back and lets the BOYS do everything and make all of the decisions for her. Oh, apparently Stephanie Meyer recommends it. (No surprise there.)
Anyways, I DID like this book, even though it had (a lot of) problems. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes excitement and doesn’t mind (many) plot holes. Also, if anda have a weak stomach, don’t read this. (Wow, I’m doing a terrible job of selling this thing, aren’t I?)
But other than THAT, it’s a good book.
My rating? 6/10

Hi everyone!

I just want to say enough already. We have determined again and again that Vampire and Twilight pasangan comprise maybe a little less than half of the members who are answering these questions. I say we just give it a rest now. We don't need any lebih picks about whether anda cinta atau hate vampires, which is the best vampire series, atau any other opportunities for fighting over an issue that's at a standstill.
Now I have read Twilight and am not a fan, though I will admit they are addicting while anda read them. I have berkata how I feel about the books, the writing, the characters and all...

Sometimes it's great to be a bookseller.

B.E.A. (which I didn't go to, alas) has passed and our book buyers have come back with some great ARCs in their suitcases and begun to share the book love. The eagerly-awaited detik book to The Hunger Games is in my hands, as well as Jeannette Wall's new "true-life novel". I was also happily surprised oleh a new book in a new series oleh Cinda Williams Chima, penulis of the Heir trilogy (The Warrior Heir; The Wizard Heir; The Dragon Heir). All three are fantastic -- y'all should pick them up come Autumn 2009!

I know the judul may make anda smile and giggle. I did too when it was introduced to me as a gift when I was studying for my master’s degree in psychology in 2001. And what a gift! I am since happily involved in human resources for a law firm employing over 600 people, including 250 lawyers. Over 600 very different human beings with very different ways of thinking, but 600 very different human beings all living for the same purpose: make the best out of everything life gave to each and everyone of them – creativity and courage –...

Daniel Goleman, 1996, 288 pages

A penetrating analysis of the dark corners of human deception, enlivened oleh intriguing case histories and experiments – It was written for the professional, yet is understandable oleh the layman as well because it is so well and clearly written. This is a great book for coaches, counsellors, and therapists working with individuals that are grieving atau dealing with past issues. I found the book to be helpful in explaining why so many of the people I coach seem to have denied atau repressed very emotionally traumatic incidents. The human mind is amazing and complex....
