Appearance: Tall, Caucasian, dark blue eyes and dark brown hair. He has a scar on his chin and freckles on his nose. On his back, he has a tattoo of each faction's symbol on his spine in this order: Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity, Candor, and Erudite.

Backstory:
Tobias was the only child of Marcus Eaton and Evelyn Johnson-Eaton. His father was abusive and his mother abandoned him at an early age oleh faking her death. He chose Dauntless to get away from his father. He earned the nickname "Four" because he only has four fears: heights, shooting someone, claustrophobia, and his father.

Events of Divergent:
Tobias acts as the instructor of the Dauntless initiates. He develops feelings for Tris and tries his hardest to protect her not only from the toughness of initiation, but also from her other fellow initiates. Following his infatuation with Tris, he stopped his plan to abandon Dauntless. He is Divergent, like Tris, but is still put under the influence of a serum oleh Jeanine and almost kills Tris. Tris helps him break out of it and they, along with Peter, Caleb, and Marcus, board the train to Amity at the end of the novel to find the Abnegation survivors.

Events of Insurgent:
Tris and Tobias fight often in this book. This is because they both have different definitions of where the line is between 'bravery' and 'stupidity'. They also spend many parts of the book apart due to Tris trying her hardest, no matter what the cost, to find what is really going on Chicago.

Events of Allegiant:
Tobias goes with the others to find what is outside the gate. When Tris is killed, he is distraught. He attempts to drink memory serum, but Christina stops him. Two years later, he overcomes his fear of heights and rides the zip-line to spread Tris' ashes.

His name has serigala origins:
A sneaky nod to Lupin’s status as a werewolf, the name ‘Remus’ comes from Roman mythology. In the story, ‘Remus’ was raised oleh serigala along with his brother, Romulus. If the brother’s name also sounds familiar, it’s because that’s the name Lupin went oleh while speaking anonymously on Potterwatch in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Clever, clever.

This isn’t the only hint of Remus’s lycanthropic tendencies, as his surname, ‘Lupin’, comes from the Latin word ‘lupus’, meaning wolf. Since the novels were published, J.K. Rowling has also...
