I feel like Asami is tougher mentally. She lost her mother, her home, her father to a cause that she hates, and then she had to watch her boyfriend leave her for her friend. Not to mention that her father tried to kill her- that was the only scene were we see her cry. She didn't even have very much support through all of this. That didn't stop her from fighting for what she believes in, and while she was heartbroken she didn't snap at everyone and cry. She's a very mature person- and it's nice to see characters that are mature and fair, even when they get the worst of the situation.
Asami has gone through so much; she may be just a cartoon character, but how she handles herself through everything she's gone through inspires me. :)
Don't hate Korra, just she's OK. And most of the time she does often annoy me.
@reyfan It'd be great fun, Asami's moments are my favorite parts of the show, I'd love to see more of her. I never said Korra wasn't mentally strong (because she is) Asami is just mentally stronger; what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And Asami had gone through so much in the last few episodes; losing her dad, losing her boyfriend, losing her mom, losing her shelther and wealth, getting discriminated for being a nonbender, and getting thrown jail. As for it not being fun to watch someone responsible, I don't believe that's true. For exsample Hermione Granger from Harry Potter, she's one of the most mature heroines in potatoes and one of the most loved and interesting. Iroh is pretty responsible as well and that old man was another well liked character. Batman is another very famous responsible hero. Just because Asami'd be more responsible does not mean she'd be more boring. Asami is flawed; she's too trusting, too nice, and a bit blissful (there was a factory under her house and her dad is an equlist she didn't know it and denied it til she could no longer, that's bliss if I do say so). If you want a flawless Mary-Sue, check out the Twilight Saga, it's full of them. Mike and Bryan a very good about not making Mary-Sues.If Asami was the avatar she would no longer be a supportive character, she would have all the elements, and she's already a believable character (she shows the reality of one, no matter what their status, can lose everything they have) so that's not a problem. As for Korra's fate; if she's not the avatar she could be a waterbender, seeing as her place of birth was the water tribe. I don't believe the creators made Asami too pretty; beauty is all a matter of opinion and I personally think she'd look better without all the makeup. Besides you can look pretty and (pardon my language) still kick ass. In fact I think that's what Mike and Bryan had in mind, they wanted to show the audience that not ever 'pretty' girl was weak and girly, they wanted to portray that a woman can be pretty and still be tough, break the stereotypes. Don't judge a book by it's cover, just because she doesn't look like an avatar doesn't mean she can't be one. Aang just looked like a little boy and I'm sure we can all see him as the avatar! At least you think it's cool I as a fan appricate that, but keep in mind there are all sorts of main characters. As someone who aspires to be an author, I believe there is no real main character matirial, there are many different personality types out there and all are good for making some type of main character. One just has to develop them well has Mike and Bryan did with Asami. Don't worry I'm not assuming it's because you hate her. If you just can't see it that's cool, it's all opinion, I just like debating and putting my view points out there.
