Can waterbenders and the avatar bend water during a lunar eclipse?

I don't think they can. I remember in the perpustakaan episode, upon hearing that api benders cannot use api during a solar eclipse, Katara says something about how it makes sense and that would be a good time to strike because there was a lunar eclipse that put the water benders to a great disadvantage.

Well, it would make sense that they don't, but where the Sun is actually blocked oleh the moon during a solar eclipse, during a lunar eclipse the Earth's shadow is just passing in front, not blocking out its pull.

No. Waterbender powers grow and shrinks with the moon so if the moon is gone, than that means that Their bending is vgone, too

The situation is just the same with the Firebender's weakness, the Solar Eclipse... So, Waterbenders are also not able to have their ability to waterbend during the Lunar eclipse because the Earth's shadow is blocking the waterbender's power and original source. Just like firebenders. So, that's it.
