My Bride is a Mermaid—A frenzied series where craziness is happening all the time. When young Nagasumi is saved from drowning oleh a mermaid his own age, he must marry her according to the rules of the sea. Fortunately, Nagasumi and the mermaid, Sun, get along just fine. Complicating matters is the fact that her family is a sea mafia, and Sun’s father, the head, doesn’t like the idea of Nagasumi taking his daughter away from him. Then there’s the tiny assassin, Maki the Conch; Sun’s rival, pop bintang Lunar; Nagasumi’s own dysfunctional parents; a hiu man; a ikan paus, paus boy; the taking over of Nagasumi’s school oleh members of the sea yakuza, and anda can see how things get chaotic. This series only gets serious for two two-parters, in which Nagasumi and Sun’s marriage must be saved, from Lunar’s scheming in one story, and from a sadistic merprince in the other.
The slight touch of drama and romance helps balance the insanity, giving the tampil some heart. I would recommend it to any anime fan.
Wallflower, The—Four pretty boys are expected to make a lady out of a so-called “ugly” girl. The boys are Takenaga, who has black hair and a girlfriend named Noi; Ranmaru, who has red hair and loves the ladies; and Yuki, the short-haired one who is the most innocent. Then there’s Kyohei, who is so “radiant” in his beauty that he can’t keep a job because he always gets sexually harassed. He yells the most at Sunako, the girl, yet he seems to have the deepest connection with her. Sunako, the lover of all things dark and morbid, is going down kicking and screaming at any attempts to make her a radiant lady.
I didn’t think the pretty boys were as pretty as could be. I’ve seen plenty better bishonen in other series.
There’s a dilemma here—do anda make Sunako conform to the image of a lady, atau do anda let her be, even if she’s the way she is because she got hurt in the past? I don’t think the last episode resolved that successfully.
Shattered Angels—I know, the judul makes it sound as if this were a women in prison soft porn film. But it’s not, though there is some yuri content. The main couple are a boy and a girl, however. This short series is lebih like a flowery cinta story for girls with mecha thrown in for the guys (plus they should like the girl on girl kissing).
